DC Latino Caucus Event Changes Due To Coronavirus
Dear friends,
The DC Latino Caucus wants to update you on some changes to planned activities resulting from the Coronavirus situation.
As you may be aware, Mayor Bowser has declared a state of emergency in the District of Columbia and is urging residents to avoid mass gatherings. The DC Democratic Party has postponed April's DC Democratic Convention to October. We had planned several activities and votes to take place at the Convention, and we must adjust accordingly.
The DCLC is exploring online voting options for our upcoming membership endorsement vote for candidates in the upcoming Democratic primary. This is obviously not ideal, but it is important for DCLC members to have their say prior to the June primary so that we can provide support to the candidates we endorse. We will provide more information later about how to do online voting. We are still planning to hold the vote around the time of April 18. You must be a member by March 18 to vote.
The DCLC Board member election will still happen. Only DCLC Board members vote for new Board members on April 18. If you are interested in joining our Board, the deadline for applying is still March 18.
The Café con Candidates event is postponed until further notice. We will attempt to re-schedule before the primary if the situation allows.
The DCLC ex-officio election is postponed. This election to represent DCLC before the DC Democratic State Committee requires in-person voting by members and will be held after the coronavirus situation improves. We will provide another opportunity for nominations and voting in the future.
We appreciate your patience during this difficult time. For official information and tips visit https://coronavirus.dc.gov/Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and your families. Please stay safe.
