Vote Robert White and One Latin@ Candidate for DC Council!

Hello friends! It is time to vote in this historic election!

More than ever, Latinos and Latinas are being recognized as the essential vote that is most likely to decide the fate of the presidential election and many other state and local races. Here in DC, more than 20 candidates are running for two DC Council At-Large seats. If our community gets out to vote, we can do the same right here in our own city!

You get two votes in the DC Council At-Large race.

Vote Robert White for DC Council At-Large Seat #1

Our DCLC PAC members endorsed Councilmember Robert White back in April before the primary, and he continues to carry our endorsement and support. He is the only Democrat running in the race.During his time on the DC Council, Robert White has been a fighter for first-class schools, vibrant and safe neighborhoods, and healthy families during the coronavirus pandemic. He supports a progressive agenda including expanding rent control, pushing hard to create more affordable housing for residents with limited income, and closing the opportunity gap for Latino and other students of color. He deserves our community's votes and support.

Vote for one of our five Latino/a candidates for DC Council At-Large Seat #2

There are five Latino/Latina candidates running in this election, and we urge you to support one of them. The DCLC did not endorse a candidate for the second seat because the candidates are running as independents. We are an affiliate of the DC Democratic State Committee and generally reserve endorsements for DC Democratic Primary races.Nevertheless, we urge you to support one of these five Latino/a candidates with your second vote for DC Council At-Large:

  • Claudia Barragan has 20 years of experience in DC providing community-centered services in urban planning and design, equitable development, environmental justice, and public policy making.

  • Mario Cristaldo is a long-time DC Latino Caucus Board member, has served as executive director of two senior centers, and has worked to promote affordable housing and homeownership opportunities in DC throughout his career.

  • Franklin Garcia is the founder and former president of the DC Latino Caucus. He is also the current US Representative (shadow) for the District of Columbia.

  • Alex Padro is a 20-year Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, serving as Chair and Vice Chair, and led the revitalization of the Shaw neighborhood.

  • Mónica Palacio is a civil rights lawyer and government executive who has devoted her career to public service in DC. She is the former Director of the DC Office of Human Rights.

Having trouble choosing? Read some of their DCLC questionnaire responses. Or you can watch them in action and responding to the issues at our recent Latino candidates forum (see below.)

We hope you will join us in supporting these candidates during this historic election, in addition to voting to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President/Vice President of the United States!Paid for by the DC Latino Caucus PAC, 2853 Ontario Rd NW, WDC 20009, Aminta Daves, Treasurer.
