DCLC Board Expands in Ramp Up for 2020 Elections

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEDistrict of Columbia, April 28, 2020

The DC Latino Caucus announces the addition of two new board members - Luz Martinez and Marco Fraticelli - and the return of two long-standing members as the organization continues to build momentum in representing Latino issues and advocating for Latino representation in the District, Maryland, and Virginia.

Marco Fraticelli hails from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He currently works with the DC Prevention Center based in the Latin American Youth Center and helps families and youth in Wards 1 and 2. Marco brings a fresh perspective and infusion of energy to DCLC. His work has ranged from international community development efforts in Asia to leading sexual assault reform efforts here in the US. Marco’s combination of grassroots experience and policy interest mirrors that of DCLC.

Luz Martinez joins the Caucus as a next step in what is becoming a successful career in Washington DC. Luz serves as the Communications Director for Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne Nadeau. A native of Puerto Rico, Luz served as an Analyst in At-Large Councilmember Robert White’s office, advising on communications and policy strategy. Prior to working for the City Council, she held the position of Special Projects Fellow at the Latino Victory Fund during the 2016 election cycle, where she assisted the organization’s digital department with creating and managing social media content.

DCLC also re-elected Aminta Daves and Ruth Pagani. Ruth is a local leader in the Democratic party. She has distinguished herself as a national advocate for Latino issues and served on three presidential campaigns. She will continue to spearhead much of DCLC’s policy focus and liaise with local Democratic groups to establish party platforms. Aminta Daves is a long-standing senior member of DCLC. She works for the DC Public Service Commission and is a long-time advocate at the DC Office of Consumer Services. She serves as DCLC's Treasurer.

The mission of the DC Latino Caucus is to serve as a channel for the participation and involvement of Latinos in civic engagement and political activities within the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. It also advocates for issues important to our diverse Latino community including DC Statehood, affordable housing, justice in education and health care, and action in the ongoing challenges around immigration policy and reform.
